Honda forks....a direct bolt on....

I have a CB500T in an original AEE Choppers frame. It takes the stock Honda triple trees.

In those trees I have XS650 (later, 35mm?, I don't remember the diameter) fork tubes. The entire assembly from the fork tubes down from the XS bolts right in.

So......it stands to reason that the diameter and spacing are the same. I actually found that out from a CB500T drag racer.

So........if for some reason you want to do it....the Honda forks, brake, and wheel etc will, conversely, fit in your XS trees.

The CB500T was made in 75/76. The engine is basically the same as the old CB450 Black Bomber and it's descendants. I do not know about interchanging the forks with the 450 though....never got into it.

I don't think this would be an upgrade...in fact I like the XS parts better, that's why I have them on my CB. But if you want to be different or have some reason to do it, it is a direct bolt on swap.

I like the confusion factor...keep people guessing....you know "what year?" How'd ya do that?" That sort of thing.....

My Honda CB450 has CB500t trees with CB750F legs.... the spacing on all Honda 35mm disk brake forks is the same - CB500/550/750 all interchange as a unit with the wheel and brakes. Interesting that the XS650 stuff is interchangeable too....

they probably all got them from the same subcontractor. it is cheaper to buy from someone else than research and design your own.

Are the fork Tubes the same length on the CB500T? It would be cool it they were shorter it would make a good way to lower the XS. Also, are the brakes as good as the XS650 brakes?

Just curious to see if there is any real benefit from doing this. Also, I wonder how the springs would work compared to the XS'.

I stuffed the forks from a '83 Yamaha 550 Vision into a '71 CB 500/4. Even the speedo cable worked. It can be done. Wink

wait a minute i have a set of forks off a 83 cb750 and my xs tubes are rusted piles of doo doo can i use the cb tubes then cuase they're great

yeah so i'm a car guy this is my first bike build and i know some ofyou may scoff and laugh but are the #'s on the shock a designation for length, or load capacity ie if i want my bik low do i go with 418, or becuase i'm fat i go with 440

or are they just arbitrary numbers meant to baffle those of us with grease from four wheels suffocating our heads... and also are shock posts all the same diameter or if i want a short fat shock do i need to weld new posts

last of all anyone in the richmond va area want to come over for some beers and laugh at a monkey trying to well you know the rest let me know lord knows i could use some help
