all hail the experienced!!!
found out today how stupid I really am. Listen to all the learned guys who say first and foremost"get a SERVICE MANUAL" Not only get one but read and use it.
I've been stressing out about what I thought were carb problems(which they may still be) and found out I had my petcock on PRIME the whole time.
ight be the fix or might not but had I used my service manual more, I'm sure I wouldn't have been running on prime so long.
Everybody line up to smack Bobman in the back of the head.

OK, I can do that. Just read the rest of the book, would ya? You wouldn't believe all the stupid questions we get here. The answers are all in that book but nobody seems to look.

the "petcock" is either or both:

a. The flow switching valve controlling fuel exiting the fuel tank

b. Something attached to the womans favorite male pet

I'm glad someone asked what a "petcock" is, you mean the fuel tap.
I may be showing my ignorance later by asking stupid questions on some of the terms used. But then I am English , so what do you expect.
