k ,so my buddy is helping me to get the bike running ,i kick the motor over ,it sounds great,i reach back to feel the exhaust the right side is hot ,the left is cold ,i look up... the rag he has hanging off his belt is in the carb.i pull it out quickly, the exhaust gets hot...i walk to the front of the bike i now have some oil dripping out from the exhaust.i shut it down..should i be worried?id say no more than 10 seconds went by from kick to finding rag

Thats probably unburnt fuel mixed with soot from the manifold/header..it wouldnt have ignited cos the rag interfered with the fuel/air mixture - fuel needs to mix with air to burn..
Start it up & give it a good right handful !

Hopefully it is the unburnt fuel like xs1961 said. Does it feel oily? If it is indeed oil, you have some major problems on your hands.

It should be pretty easy to determine if it was oil or not.
Oil is thick.
Fuel is thin.
Thin and black is fuel.
Thick and black is oil the smell and feel are totally different.
Although its pretty difficult to work out a mecanical scenario whereby you would get oil from the exhaust.
You got all the rag and your bike is running OK you got no problems.

Agreed - if the bike runs ok, it's EXTREMELY unlikely that you'd see oil coming out of the exhaust.

I had a twin do that to me once before- the unburned fuel kinda mixed with the carbon in the exhaust port and made a thick, oily mess that spattered out the exhaust. It went away and never returned after a few wide open runs.
