i rode my bike yesterday after setting the floats and it ran great.

i let it sit for a few hours and and went for another ride and the left carb overflowed with gase.

boy are these carb floats tricky.

what advice is there for me?

i have a new float needle and float. didn't get the seat since i can't get them out.

80 xs 650

thanks,

mcat

Mine does the same thing. I believe there is a little rust in the tank, and it gets stuck in the inlet valve. The floats won't close it with trash in it, so I take it apart and clean it at least once a week.

bet you're right. that explains why it moves from side to side.

i tried to really clean out the tank but i guess there's sill flakes in there.

i did put in an inline fliter, but it doesn't take much to clog those seats.

thanks bro.

btw, my 70 bsa

Thanks for the tip Jayel. Has anyone used the Kreem system to do their tank? If so, does it work well? Tired of cleaning carbs, and don't have the money for a new tank.

hear a lot about it works for a while then you end up with a bigger mess than you started with, do electrolysis (search this forum for how to's) works well, or Por-15 is better than the Kreem

There's not really any major rust in it though. I guess I can get the paper filter till it cleans out alittle.

I bought a '76 that had been sitting for 20 yrs. with gas still in the tank. When I emptied it out it looked like something from a septic tank or swamp water. Did the KREEM thing and followed all the instructions and have had no problems at all with the tank in the past 2 yrs. NOTE: If you are planning on having your tank painted, some shops bake the paint and the inner coating will not take that kind of heat. Kreem it after paint. Good luck, G

the float leaked and would fill up on one side. got another at a cycle salvage and prolem went away.

I've had a Kreem kit in one of my bike tanks for over 15 years and it's fine. The problem isn't with the product, it's the people who use it.

You must use the complete kit with the acid etch and neutralizer. If you try to clean the rust out yourself and don't get it ALL, the liner will peel off.
