OK, so has sent anyone tackled a Speedo and tack rebuid yet?
I need to swap some parts from a set I just received into my existing units. How tough is it to disassemble these units. It looks like they are hermitically sealed.
Any thoughts?

You can CAREFULLY work your way round the underneath of the top retaining 'ring' with a small screwdriver to remove it & the glass for access to the innards,Ive done this many times over the years to rebuild busted tacho's / speedos or even just to re-wind the mileage!
You'll have to again carefully 'crimp' the ring back over the glass & seal afterwards.

I have done this as well. The tach is easier than the speedo. I haven't found a way to get the trip gauge spindle to come off, but was able to open up the speedo enough to get inside and clean it up.

Anybody have a source for the cushion gasket between the speedo/Tach and the housings?
Can't seem to find them anywhere.
Thanks,
Slim

I think I got my speedo and tach gaskets (cushions) from yamaha in Australia via Pittmans Yamaha in Adelaide. They have now sent all their new old stock to a bloke named Brian. Sorry email pittmans ( address online) and ask them his details. Try your local Yamaha dealer. I know they are normally the last place to try but worth a look. I think there is a good chance they'll be available.

I make mine out of 3/8 foam weather stripping - cheap, but if you want original good luck, probably have to find NOS

I just finished my Veglia style tach rebuild last night. Thought some of you would like to see it. I used a stainless exhaust clamp to hold the components together. I'll probably cut most of the excess clamp bolt off.
