Would these work for a front axle?

Could they be threaded using a die? I have to make a custom axle to run my XS mag front wheel on a custom girder front end that is set up for an Harley Davidson axle diameter.

no you won't be cutting those with a die, case hardened steel, since you are wanting a axle it's no big deal if it's mild steel it's supported by the forks and the bearings in the wheel, find a suitable lenght rod have it turned to your dia. and thread both ends then nylok nuts or double jam nuts (outside one a castle nut) drill for cotterpin and bob's your uncle
