Is it possible to put a Honda CB 360 master on a XS650 brake system? I know there is a conversion and ratio chart program or site for brake master's that will tell you what master's you can inter-change. I can't find it or really know the info on my XS master with out pulling it apart. Has anyone done this conversion or have any advice? Yes I know it's a crap Honda part, but they look so sweet all polished up. Confused

what you have to think about is, how big was the pistons the
mastercylinder used to move, compaired to what you want it
to move now. Will the fluid displacement be enough

stock master cylinder on the XS 650 is 14mm for single disc and 11/16'' for dual disc. Check the Honda cylinder, the diameter should be marked on it.
I would not go smaller than 14mm for the dual and 1/2'' for the single because of overbraking. Fluid displacement will be enough in any case.

maybe, but seems pretty small. Can you take it apart to mesure it?. Or, if you have a single disc, you can try it on the bike, but take care of overbraking! On a dual disc Iwouldn't try it at all! Cool

I am planning on going to an 11mm bore master cylinder and then bolting it up to my single (1981) caliper. (11mm M/Cs are available from 650 Central and MikesXS.) It is my undestanding that this will provide a "two finger" brake system. I'll let you know how it works out.

I know this thread is kinda dead, but, I happen to have a 75' CB360T brake Master Cyl. on my 77' XS650. I had to put a banjo bolt into it that had a brake light switch integrated into it.

It works, but it's kinda weak compared to the force of a factory unit.

Hope this helps,

Ben

I have a Bandit 600 master cylinder fitted to my XS Special and it works very well. Definitely an improvement on the original that is fitted to my Special II!
