I recently rebuilt the carbs on my '78 xs400-2E. According to my haynes manual I set the floats to 32mm. I figured that was rediculously high, but it's what it called for. I left the rest of the settings alone.

The bike won't start now and I've tried everything else. It doesn't even try to start after kicking it for 10 minutes. Any ideas?

if it doesn't do something after 3or 4 kicks i wouldn't spend 10 minutes kicking it 1. does it have spark? 2. will it fire if you squrit some raw gas into the carb throats? 3. is the carbs getting fuel from the tank? kill switch in the right posistion to start?

Since it isn't firing I can't tell if it is running too rich or to lean. It is giving a goos strong spark though Looks like I'll be tearing them apart and setting the float much lower. I believe they were set aroung 25mm beforehand, but they also left a pool of gas under the bike.
