If I pulled the head cover and the cam shaft out can I inspect the guide.
I want to try that in my motor I am fitting into the bike cos I dont want to replace one bad motor with another. I know that one has good compression and good everything else. Maybe 5th gear I have to ride and check.
Cool.

Also is a 1980 special cam shaft the same as a 78 one in terms of cam sprokets ... I know 78 has the points in it. I am buying an 80 non points cam shaft and swapping it into the 78 head and then putting the 78 motor in my 82 frame so I can use the 78 cam shaft and rephase 82 motor ...
Why am I getting an 80 cam shaft ... why not use the 82 ... yea ... I wanna prep the 78 motor before I take it to my mechanic, where I just want to pull the motor and put the 78 in, no fiddling over there, I work best @ home on the small stuff, and I need help yanking the heavy motor out and putting new one in.
Anyway, if the 80 camshaft I am buying fits the 78 head and I will be able to run it in my 82 bike, I am good.
Cool.

yes and yes. U can exam the guides, but u would get a better view if u just popped the head off as long as ur removing the camshaft anyway. And yes the cams are interchangeable each having the same sprocket, if not there easily removed and changed anyway
