hello building a xs bobber right now it is a 1981 xs650 that I hard tailed motor has 20,000 on it and leaks like a sinking boat, but runs like a top starts on the first kick every time and will run all day no problems, it just sat for so long all the gaskets dried out, I will be replacing them this winter and just wanted to get some ideas on doing a big bore kit or not the bike is a bar hopper and run around town not much else. thanks

I run my 650cc a couple hundred miles a day some weekends and 40 cu.in. is fine, if you were rebuilding the motor and needed pistons, re-bore ect. 750cc/45 cu. in. would be nice but you don't really need it

When you are fixing leaky gaskets, you can pull the jugs and leave the pistons in the jugs by pulling the piston pins. This will keep the rings seated in the bores so no rebreak in running.
You can also pull the cam with out breaking the cam chain by sliding the bearings off the cam and working the chain off the sprocket and the cam out of the chain.
