Hi guys im new to the forum and was wondering if there is anything to watch out for or anything unique about the 83 model? Really im looking for any known problems with this year and how to fix these things. Also, what is the best company for hardtail kits i know tcbrothers is the big one, but is there any others?

Thanks
Eric

Joe Wiseguy, G&L, Elswick cycles, Tigman, all depends on what you're looking for. Another XS bites the dust...

They have a few safety devices that can be a bit of trouble. If your chopping or bobbing it then you will probably rewire it. You can remove the trouble spots then.

What would those trouble spots happen to be just for reference. Also the bike i picked up has a oil leak on the front part of the engine. Looks like it is either coming from the two covers on front (maybe a bad gasket) or it is coming on top of the motor where the oil is pumped in or atleast that is what i think it is. The chrome tube that runs from the bottom of the motor to the top and spreads into two and goes into each bank. Havent taken a look at it yet but justseeing of anyone has had problems with oil leaks on the front part of these bikes.

Thanks
Eric
