hello everyone. i'm fairly new to this site. ive just started my build last month. my frame is with Tigman right now getting some work done to it. i have a few questions i was hoping i could get some answers too.
1. i was wondering if anyone has ever ridden a bike with this type of front end. pros and cons about the ride of the bike? if no one has ever ridden one, an educational assumption would do for me too.
2. im planning on doing a foot clutch with a suicide shifter. i was hoping if anyone could post up some pictures of their setup so i can colaborate some idea on how i want mine done.
thanks in advance...

there was a guy who rode one with a fork like that back in the 1920's but I think he has died by now

Ride is going to be determined almost entirely by the shock absorber used and the structural integrity of the forks. With strong forks and a high quality s.a. it will ride all right... it really depends on how much money you spend.
The first one is nice because it utilizes some very solid geometry. While the second bike isn't as quite as sturdy, it has the advantage of only having one pivot bolt. (If I'm correct about pivot bolt location.)
The first one is a far better design, including the dual pivots, although that means more parts to fail, they're larger and located in a better position for stress.
Not knowing how much you know about bikes, keep in mind that those forks aren't just bolted on. You're going to need pivot shafts with bearings etc. just like the one for a swingarm. That means having someone adapting or fabricating custom pieces.
I guess the real question is, why bother? Forks are made the way they are now because they work, and work well. You could get into a lot of money for something you hate. Do you plan on riding the bike everyday? Because those bikes are both show bikes and bar hoppers, not daily riders. If you plan on bar-hopping with it, go for it. If you plan on really riding it, stick with the standard setup.

thanks for the reply guys.
jayel, i hope the guy didnt die because of his front end design...
sure, whats a log wagon?
Teebs, yes she will be an everyday rider. as far as knowledge on bikes... i do ok. i came from a sport bike back ground and maitain and mod my own bikes. as far as ground up build, this would be my very first. the reason why i opted for a different design of forks is because i wanted to build something different but i feel like everyones pretty convinced that using this type of forks i would be sacrificing ridability which would be a no go for me. thats the reason why i ask if enyone ever ridden one first hand too just so they can share their experience about it. i was going to get tigman to build me the forks but it looks like ill be sticking with my factory ones...
thanks again guys...
