Welcome, Jason! We're always glad to meet another Iowan around here. I live in Troy Mills, myself, and there's guys here from Mount Pleasant, North English, Ankeny, Council Bluffs, and a couple of other places. There'd be more of us, you know, but not everyone is smart enough to invest in an XS650.

My hat is off to all you guys that can tear 'em down and put 'em back together!
Have you had a 650 before? It is a great bike.

here are some more updated photos of the progress of my first 650. I have had the help of my boy heath with river rat cycles doing really most of this build and also greg of docs chops coming by to help with wiring, and hooking up some custom kneepads. when its finished i will take some good shots for you guys...i am stoked.

Welcome
Haven't been a member of this forum that long myself, but have found a lot of useful information about the 650. The knowledge here from others seems to be immense.

Another fellow Iowan...good deal.
What shocks you running there? 11" ??? Any chance you could let me know where you got your seat from or who made it? I'm looking for a low profile seat myself.

we custom made it...well heath from River Rat Cycles did all the work really i just drank PBR and gave my 2 cents and a bunch of bitch work...he has the progress posted on his myspace www.myspace.com/riverratcycles kinda walks through the hold build so far.check under his folder {650 streetfighter for jason} took the pan and foam to a local upholstery shop, showed them a couple bratstyle pics and dude hooked it up in about a week...had it out a couple days ago when the snow first hit, still has some tweaking to do.
