I saw a couple mentions on here of a thread on the proboards xs650 site about how to mount R1 rear sets to our bikes. I searched forever just browsing, using the proboards search, and using a google search of the proboards site... I didn't turn anything up. I checked the Rearsets forum on dotheton for R1 rearsets on an xs650, but again, nothing.
Does anyone have any idea more or less what was required to fit the R1 rearsets to the xs650?
Also.. I'm on an XS400... does anyone know if they will fit the same or differently?
Thanks for any info, I have a friend with R1 rearsets lying around, but he's far away from me.

Can you have your friend measure the spacing between the mounting holes?

I think it can be done but it'll take custom mounting plates on both sides and a new bent shift rod.. The shifter on the R1 engine case is rather high compared to the XS-400 (I was looking at a friends R1 today)
The rear brake will be the tricky part..
If you have rear disk and get the R1 rear MC with it you'll be set..
Otherwise the rear brake linkage could be tricky.
You will have to make a push rod and convert a stock brake arm into a short brake arm linked to the rear set
It might get expensive if you can't machine the parts yourself.
Or you could buy Omars XS-400 rearsets for $300
