will it work if drum or disc? or would yo uhave to change the hub?

i want to put a 16" rear wheel on my 77 but i'm not sure what i need to do to a 81 special wheel.

i can't wait to learn more about these bikes. im a yamaha noob. this is my first one, i've been driving vintage hondas all my life.

The wheel will bolt on, what brakes are on the 77 & whats the 81 set up for?

drums on 77, and from what i can tell, it might be drums on the 81 but i'm not exactly sure.

If the brake-arm tab is on the top of the swingarm it was made for disk brakes. If it's on the bottom, it's a drum brake swingarm.

If you have a disk brake swingarm you will have to weld the tab onto the bottom.
