I bought a bike with the Ascot exhaust and like things I've read, the kickstarter scrapes when it is completely down. Beside the danger of me putting a hole in it, what would happen if I dented the pipe it's scraping on to make it stop?

Shouldn't be any problem denting the pipe to fit the kicker. I've dented pipes to clear items on many bikes with no problems.

That's cool. How do you recommend doing it? Should I take it off the bike?

Use a rubber mallet and a couple of layers of masking tape over the area you want to 'dent' try to do it in one confident swipe not lots of little taps ...Unless the exhaust is very solidly attached to to bike I'd take it off first - make sure you've marked where the indent should be !
