hey all, I've been chasing down a problem with my headlight and seem to have found/created a new one....
I wired in my headlight to the blue/yellow coming from the ignition switch by jumping it to the blue/black and blue/yellow that I tied together when I removed the reserve lighting unit, and that seems to have worked, but then I blew a main fuse and now I've got no spark. I replaced the fuse panel with a new blade fuse block and I'm no longer blowing the main when I turn the key, and I found power in the red/white lines all the way the to the coil, but no spark when I kick the bike or press the starter button. I have a Boyer elec. ignition, and the bike's harness and motor is a '79SF--could I have fried the ignition somehow??? how can I tell? (I have an Ohmeter but am very stupid and don't know how it works exactly!) Thanks,
--Jesse

Check 3 connectors-
One- coming from the stator/rotor to the TCI - It's a 3 prong near the carbs - by where the tank end seats (between the air cleaners on mine).
Two & 3 are under the sidepanel that contains your tool kit.
One is for the TCI the other is for the Voltage Regulator.
When any of those 3 get dirty the ignition shuts down.

Thanks! I actually rewired the entire bike a few months ago and took care of everything. had to do a new boyer ignition, new rotor and stator, and new regulator/rectifier. cost a pretty penny but she's purring like a kitten now. I also got rid of all the extra devices and relays, and put the headlight and ignition on their own circuits. Looks much better now with simplified wiring and cleaned up circuitry!

BTW, the problem was a short in either the R/R, or the rotor/stator somewhere, that ended up frying everything else...
