I have a 1978 650 XS special. This is my first bike and I'm learning on it.
But, the turn signal lights stopped working along with the horn. The neutral indicator light is also not working.
Everything else works alright: the starter, headlamp, and highbeam indicator. I don't see any fuses blown or bulbs burnt out.
I am stumped.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
~650special

I would look for bad ground connection and or a loose / dirty plug connector common to those items.

When I have a component like this that I'm troubleshooting, I often unplug the component, then "jump" it with temporary ground and power leads (wires with aligator clips) to make sure the item in question actually works before I spend a lot of time rooting through the harness, fuses, switches etc.

I had trouble with my turn signals as well.
I disassembled the bar switch assembly and found that the wires for left and right handlebar had become detached from their contact points on the switch mechanism.
I soldered the wires back in place and now everything works (except that the left signal doesn't want to come on on the first try unless I've just used the right signal - weird).
