I'm ordering and going to be installing a spin on oil filter kit. What are the chances that I will be able to re-use my clutch cover gasket? I think I may just order one to be sure. The other dilemma I have is I don't see a seperate listing on Mike'sXS for the Kick starter seal, I really don't to buy $30 worth of seals I may never use, Does anyone know of any other online source.

Can you get the numbers off of the original seal? If so, I can get that cross referenced at Bearing Distributors here in Augusta and it'll be much cheaper than most other sources. I bought some crank bearings a few years ago for one of my dirt bikes that Yamaha wanted $30.00 each, and I picked them up at B.D. for something like $9.00 ea. I'm wondering about the steering neck bearings. Does anybody have the part number off the bearing and race?

Btw. as for the gasket, I'd go ahead and order one or buy a sheet of gasket paper and make one.

You might try dressing the gasket with Kopper Kote; I've used it for years. I don't replace clutch cover gaskets unless they tear.

Ok, great. I'll see what I can do with those numbers. It may take a few days, but I'll find out something.

Let us know what you find Wulf. I may do some checking through my supply sources at work as well.

I've been lookin' too actually ... all kinds of seals that size ... but I don't see any with the "SD" ... its something to do with the lip arrangement ... like double, single, spring, ... I spose any &$%@# seal with a double lip that can take 200 degrees would work? As long as they don't make fur coats outta it
Just to beat it to death ... has a double lip and a spring ... inner lip keeps oil in ... outter lip keeps dirt out. Info right off the seal:
SD 25-35-7-2 ... also has on it spaced apart: H9 ... and HS.
Manufacturer looks like PTCS or FTCS ... but its so small you'd need to be a germ to read it.

I bought me a seal for the kick starter shaft at the local Yamaha dealer for $7.82 About the same price as I'm paying for a liter of motor oil. I may or may not "Need" to replace it but for the price i'll take it over an oil leak later.
