www.bwchoppers.com used to offer forward controls for XS650's. They were a little crude but it's a place to start. I don't see them on thier site now but you could always ask.

Can you weld? I made a set that works well. If you browse my chopper page you will see some pics- I can add more detail photos if you want them. Hit this link:

I'm in process now on making some that should be easy to do and look pretty good, That's my plan anyway. If it works out as planned I'll post how I made with pics.

Very nice looking controls. Are you using any bearings or bushings in the pivots? I'm currently planning my own set, and am considering using sealed ball or roller bearings, but this may be overkill. Also considering "nyliner" bearings (a bit $$$ for what you get, though), and I just remembered a piece of industrial teflon extrusion in my junk pile-er-fabrication supply stockpile-that may be the way to go. I like the idea of seals to keep out water and road gunk, but if this hasn't been a problem for anyone else....
Any comments appreciated!

I used shouldered teflon coated DU bushings for the pivots but even think that might even be overkill. I've never had another set apart, commercial or otherwise, to see what anyone else uses. I'd be interested in what anyone else used as well.
They look pretty sweet now that they are back from chrome too. I'm hoping to get the frame and painting done today so I can start the final build this week.
We'll see how it goes. And I'll post some more pics once I've got it together.

Oh, and about the pipes, when I did the controls I had pipes like this in mind so I made no provisions to accommodate stock pipes. But after trying (unsuccessfullly) to find the mandrel bends I originally wanted for a reasonable price, I started to consider going with stock pipes.
Apparently stock is no longer an option with the new controls though so voila. Custom pipes.

Hey excesstoo I have two questions,
1. will your forward controls work with stock pipes?
2. is it possible for you to send me spec's on the controls so I can make a set, I like your's better then any of the others that I've seen.
Thanking you in advance for any assistance you may give.

I'm very interested in the pipes. Did you bend them? If not, where can I get the parts? I can weld the joints.

should make those controls for resale, I dont know what you would get for them but I probably could get rid of a couple sets and i bet there are others that would buy too. Sounds like pipes too.

Those are pretty cool pipes and controls. There are some i've seen from some guys called tcbrochoppers out of Oh. they looked neat but the style you have with your controls would fit the setup of my xs.
