This may sound like a stupid question, but how many times does the ignition switch click to the right. The reason is that when I got the my bike it didn't have a key, so I've been using one from a old honda. The key fits in a clicks once to the right. The horn will work and the gauge lights come on but the starter won't work and there's no spark to the spark plugs. I'm wondering if the key is susposed to click into another position but it won't since it's the wrong key.

Some switches move a second click for parking lights but one click to the right should be the operating position. Check to see that you have power into and out of the kill switch; just open the headlight shell and follow the leads into it. The red/white lead out of the kill switch is what powers the ignition and starter solenoid.
