Evenin all! I have an 850G wreck sitting in the back yard, and i have an XS project with no front end. I'm wondering, does anyone know if the GS front end is any good? Is it worth the effort to adapt it, or should i just keep an eye on ebay for something more suitable?
Thanks
OD

pros and cons, the unit is good. may have to weldd in a differant neck post. then the wheels dont match but dont matter if you dont care. also the headlight, gauges etc dont just bolt on, then that dont matter on custom bikes. I prefer usein yamaha front ends because then I can retain my own wheels and body work. xs-1100's and 750 tripples make good donner bikes.

Thanks Roy, i have to source everything for this bike any way but your point is noted re: odd wheels. The G has a shaft drive so the matching back wheel is useless to me. I think i'll just wreck the G and keep watching ebay.

hold off there guy. part it out and sell everything on e-bay and fund your yamaha project with the money earned. drive shaft alone is worth some cash to you. , so are the carbs, forks, etc cause they fit other models. if you make 2-300 bucks on that, you could buy what you want for forks.

Should be pretty quick with the motor going downhill all the time.

Laughing but then again maybe not if it can't get any oil! Which raises another question i'll pose in the engine section.
