Why is the flange so thin? There is a huge gap between the exhaust port and the flange (about an inch or so) and the stock acorn nuts arent deep enough and there wasnt any new nuts in the box. Am I missing parts or something?

You can either get different nuts (non acorn), or you can get some washers to take up the extra space.

WHAT KIND OF EXHAUST GASKET ARE YOU USING? DID YOU HAPPEN TO PUT IN THE NEW GASKET WITHOUT TAKING OUT THE OLD ONE?

uh, it didnt come with any exhaust gaskets. I looked at the stock exhaust and it doesnt have any either but the flanges are way different. Maybe I need a gasket with the Mac exhaust then? I was thinking about using upen ended nuts but since there is a gap will it bend the flange since its not sitting tight against the head? thanks for the help guys.

HEY MIKES XS SELLS EXHAUST GASKETS I THINK THEY ARE COPPER I DON'T HAVE THE SITE UP INFRONT OF ME BUT THEY SHOULD BE USED U CAN ALSO REUSE THE FINNED FLANGE THAT CAME STOCK IF YOU HAVE IT. THAT'S WHAT I AM DOIN G IT GIVES YOU A BIT OF PERFORMANCE AND STOCK LOOK AT THE HEAD.

Are you sure the gaskets aren't still inside the exhaust port? My flanges has about 3/4 of an inch gap. Tighten up even and recheck after each ride, mine set in after about 3 rides.

i just put a pair on my bike too...mine sit out as well... you do need new nuts and i put a new set of gaskets on it too.. its normal for them to sit out.

Hi I just purchased a Mac 2-1 system and I have the same question, there is about a 1/2 inch gap between the exhaust port where the header pipe goes in and the flange(mounting bracket). This doesn't seem right, the gap is about 1/4 of an inch without a gasket in the port hole.

The step in the exhaust port is for the stock header flange and you can fill the area in to reduce resistance as the gas pulses enter header either by welding, aluminum sleeve or cut 1section of 1 1/2 exhaust pipe to fill the step in but with the exhaust pipe you'll need to apply high temp silicone to hold in place..............................Jack

That'll work! Or you can cut the seating ring off the front of the old stock headers with an inch or so of pipe, peel off the outer layer of the 2-layer pipe, grind smooth, and smack 'em into the MAC headers. Use spacers, washers, whatever behind the MAC flanges.
