I got my engine from the valve job recently. The compression is great now. I charged the battery up today and hooked it up. The thing is I switched the positive and negative and turned the key. (I was working at night, because I didn't want to wait till morning) I saw that I made a mistake so I quickly switched them back. I'm not getting any power, neither the neutral or brake light is coming up. Everything worked fine before, so I can rule out the ignition.

Any ideas? Could the switched connection have fried something? I checked the fuses and they look fine. I also forgot to connect the ignition points before I turned the key, I connected them and still nothing.

I'm thinking I didn't connect something correctly when I put the engine back in. There is a ground wire that connects to one of the screws on the top mounting bracket, does it matter which one? There's only one, right?

Get a test light or meter and starting at the battery work your way out. When you loose power you found your first problem. I would also have a wiring diagram handy.

Good luck. Crying or Very sad

I do have a volt meter, but my expereince with using it ends at checking battery voltage. How do you test individual connections? Do you use the same knob position as checking the battery or are you looking for resistance? I'm looking at the service manual, but it covers individual components. Is there one that shows a general overview of the entire electrical system in one diagram?
