Hi all, nice site ya got here!

In mid-July I bought a 650 Herritage Special. I had about 10,000 miles on it and was badly neglected. After fork seals, a new chain, ect, I started focusing on the "ticking" sound that wouldn't go away when warm. For my model the book says *inlet: 0.06 mm (0.0024 in) and exhaust 0.15 mm (0.0059 in). I guess my question is, has anyone found a set of gauges to set these "exact" or do you get it as close as possible? What I ended up doing was using 0.0025 and 0.006 and setting them tight. Was this the wrong thing to do?

Get a metric thickness gauge. Its better to set them too loose then too tight if you can't set it exactly.

In my Clymer maunual specs are
inlet: 0.06 mm (0.0024 in) and exhaust 0.15 mm (0.006 in)
Using a 0.0025" For Intake should be fine, one ten thousandith isn't going to hurt.
and the 0.006" is right on the money or one ten thousandith in your manual.
If you want to get a set of metric it wouldn't hurt but I don't think you "Need" to.
