Hey everyone,
I've been admiring all your rides and have been trying to figure out how to do my own. Right now, my most pressing question is my seat. I plan on doing a solo seat with the stock tank. How do I mount it? I have a 1975 xs650, all stock as near as I can tell, and since I possess few skills or tools, this first project is going to be basic so I can learn. Also, where did you guys get your solo seats of the springed variety? Thanks for any help.

Personally I think a springed solo seat on any bike that is not hard tailed looks goofy. Solo seats are available everywhere, including egay. Im not hard tailing my current project but it will have a solo seat and a pillion pad. What I have done is stripped my stock seat down to the metal, took a magic marker and drew a shape I liked that would allow me to retain my helmet/ seat lock and one of the two hinges and cut it to that shape. I am very confident that when I get the dough to see the upholsterer its gonna look perfect. When I decided to include a passenger pillion I took an old beat up spring style solo seat I had in a box and cut it to the shape I wanted then mounted the pan to back rail of the frame and the fender. Its not upholstered yet either but in mock up looks awsome.
