I put all these questions under my first post but nothing in the way of responses yet. I wa told to post up here. Thanks in advance for the help. These are just a few of the ?'s I have.

Is there a TX750 expert around anywhere? Does anybody need any parts?
Off topic I know but had to throw it in

Here's my motor list

Am I better to go with the aftermaket carb kit or can I get junkyard fabulous and save some scratch? What other carbs fit than I can pulll max power out of? Fabrication is not a problem.

Who's got the best pistons going? Wiseco is a no-brainer, but I can get Ross too. Any ideas?

I s the tranny going to handle it?

has anyone ever knife edged a crank on one of these?

How about straight cut gears for the trans?

Would there be a market for a stictly high performance parts and services outlet on the net? Or am I too late?
Thanks for any and all help to come. Preshadit!

Heard the stock carbs can be made to work well, but not real performance stuff. Go with 34 or 36mm Mikuni round slides, and you're better off from a performance stand point. No ideas about your other stuff.

Flat sides I hear are alittle better performance wise, but usaully more expensive, and alittle overkill for the little 650.

Ive owned /built/run a few 840's & Wiseco 750's Ive always run 'em with 34mm Mikuni VM's - great performance,36mm's are just TOO big, they dont line-up with the Yam inlet ports & you'll still be using the same jets internally as the 34's
Ive tried flatslides but never really got them to work too well,I reckon they're more suited to high-revving 2-strokes or highly-tuned 4-strokes...They dump an awful lot of gas into the motor , XS's are sloggers really, not happy to rev their bollocks off!

for the xs750 check jean akers site for a start, a little late for the hop up goodies, they just don't market a lot of stuff for 30+ year old bikes but do a search for Shell Thuett and read some of the stuff he did

Jean Akers site is www.biker.net/
