Just completed the RZ Alternator Conversion using a XJ750 Reg/Rec but voltage to the battery goes over 16.5 volts at high revs
This can’t be right looking at the reg page for XJ it should not raise above 14.5
Something must be wrong with the regulator??????????????

- and nor can they be adjusted or repaired
- ive used several different rec regs..gs500 gsxr6 rd er6n...my twisted logic figured that those from most high revving sports bikes with permags should work-but then ive been known to be wrong-often, according to my wife

Good article to read
On reading this I find I also had a burnt conector & melting around main fuse.

wally,

You should connect your ignition system to an external, separate battery from the bike battery while you get your regulator problem sorted out to prevent frying the ignition system with the high voltage.
