1979 Yamaha XS650 - New tires and tubes, cables, battery, head light, grips, chain, points, plugs and gaskets. I bought this motorcycle from the original owner as a project. Bike sat in a basement since 1983, but was in great condition with no rust. It has all original pipes, etc. Very nice bike. I have owned the bike for two years and I ride it about 1,200 miles a year. Would not e afraid to take off to the beach on this bike. This bike weighs over 900 pounds and rides like a cadillac.

Maybe it has a full fairing and a whole bunch of hard bags.....full of rocks? Manual lists a 79 2F @ 452lbs dry and a 79 SF@463 dry.

OK that the bike or is it a same year and model ?
Cos I really dont see why it has to weigh 900 lb, or a cadillac northstar suspension on it.

It is that exact bike as the picture was sent to me by the seller. He sent eight pictures and that was the most representative IMO.

OK, maybe you should gently point out to him that its barely gonna break 500 and when he's done crying, you could mention that lighter = better.
Then of course if he wants to maintain that it rides like a cadillac ... its his choice but most of us take references to porkers like that a serious disadvantage.

I responded to his email and thanked him for the picture and mentioned that it probably weighs 465 and in his ad there might be a typo on the weight. Maybe just an honest mistake.
