I'm in the process of chopping a 74 TX650 with the 38mm carbs (dual cable). Ill be running pod filters and I have shortened up the exhaust. Ive never had this engine running and I'm sure it sat out of commission for a while. I just finished up wiring everything and now want to get the fuel part of the project completed. i have tore down the carbs and gave them a good cleaning and inspection for worn out components. should i purchase new carb rebuild kits, and if i do will the kits Mikes XS supplies provide the correct size jets for the modifications I have made? I'm afraid if i buy the kits as a whole i will need to purchase different size jets. if this is true please share what rebuilt parts i should buy and what size jets i should be running with the modifications made.

opened a can of worms... no one can tell you what jets you will need, however with pod filters and short pipes stock jetting will run lean so you will need larger jets how much larger is a problem you will have to experiment to find the anwser to

are the 38mm carbs stock or aftermarket. If stock I would start at 140 and work your way up if need be,I'm sure someone will disagree thats just the way it is.I'm running pods 2into1 et and use just one size up.

Are there some general sizes of jets any of you have started out with and then determined where to go after troubleshooting the new jets. Ive never re-jetted a set of carbs so im sure its gonna take allot of trying something and reporting back to the forum for answers. Not to mention its starting to get cold here in MN.

I believe their stock. if that's true Ill have to go with the "small round type" for the main jet, and probably purchase a range from say 135 to 140 correct? how about the Pilot Jets? What size, etc? please explain 2 into 1, probably a dumb question but im confused.
