I have discovered that it is incredibly easy to change to 1" bars, just a matter of using Sportster type risers and a two- piece (split) handlebar top clamp. No machining, cutting, drilling, etc., required.
This opens up a whole world of usable bars, grips, mirrors and accessory mounts.
y question is which 1" clutch levers and clutch cables will work with the rest of the bike. I haven't researched that part of the puzzle yet, maybe it's really easy and there are lots of choices.
I know that mo650chopper has done this -- are you out there? Anyone?

I just checked my '00 V-Star and it looks to me that the clutch perch will accept the original XS clutch cable.
I imagine the V-Star throttle and switch assemblies could also be modified and integrated into the XS wiring harness.
You might be SOL on the master cylinder, though, definitely different sized banjo bolts.

Thank you, I will look into the V-Star clutch cable.
I think (hope) the master cylinder will be easy -- Sportster master cylinders have metric fittings.
Also, mo650chopper answered a PM I sent him, regarding the throttle, he said:
I'm using a HD throttle cable. Had to file the carb end to match the stock XS cable and used my old clutch cable adjuster to make up for the additional free length of the HD cable.
