one day last week,I did a quick CL search and came across a 2 day old ad for a 74 Yamaha 650 parts bike(no title) w/a pic (telling me it was a TX) for $250 OBO.I answered.Dude gets back to me at 10:30 pm.He's an hour away and he's just getting around to checking his emails for the add(says he has a few.I BET HE DID).I ask if it's too late to come out.He says no.I jump in the truck,hit the mac machine and away I go.I check the bike out by the light of my headlights.The stock mufflers caught my eye.Motr turned freely.Story was he sold it to a friend years ago.It developed a charging issue and he brought it back to work on at his garage.His buddy never did the work and moved out of state leaving the bike behind.I figure he didn't have to tell me about the charging issue.Don't run(don't charge if it did),some rust from sitting outside under a lean to for the past year,no title.I offer $150.He says "how about $175?".I say "let's load her up".Only thing I didn't catch in the dark is a crack at a seam on the left muffler.I figure I could weld,grind down with a paddle wheel and rechrome.Since this one has a better chance at running and my other 74 has a reconstructed title,I might just switch the ID plate to this one and do a restore MAYBE.I'll get a couple pics over the weekend.
