stumbling from idle

My bike is idling well and the charging system seems to be good ( 12.5 at idle 13.95 at 2500) and in neutral will rev just fine but as I let out the clutch in first it wants to die and will just sputter and then it catch up with where it should be and rev like hell??? whats up carbs need to be cleaned?? plugged jets? any help would be great

Pilot circuit not clean or ATU not advancing properly.....either advancing to quickly or visa versa.......could clean carbs and atu............then watching the advance curve with a timing light from idol set at the the F mark.....should go up slowly to maybe half advance at 2200-2500 or so and full advance at maybe 3400 or so...........?

Could check to see if the PO moved the c-clip on the Jet needle off the center position to richen it......fun to get the large c-clip out of the slide on those 78-79 carbs without the right small inward gripping c-clip pliers .....?..
