Just picked up a '75 that was a running bike about 2 weeks ago. Decided to cut the frame which meant disconnecting all the wiring. When I opened up the head lamp assy, there was just a crazy tangled mess in there. I tried to label as i disconnected, but eventually got frustrated and started clipping. So.....i need help. i want to run as little wiring as possible. my state requires very little in the way of what i have to have. I need somebody to walk me through this as I don't know anything about wiring.

here's a wiring diagram, if you cut a bunch of those wires you'll just have to trace each one from the switch or what ever you want to hook up and figure out which wire going back into the main harness it needs to connect to

jayel, thanks for the reply, unfortunately it doesn't help. I have a manual which contains several wiring schemes. My problem is that is looks like things have been spliced, and spliced again. I need a really simple to follow diagram. Using the supplied manual diagram, I am unable to get power to anything. I'm tempted to rip out all wiring and start over, but something tells me that I would be in for a bigger headache.

start at the red wire, brown, and red and white wires coming out of the back of the ignition.Do you have a probe if not u should get one(probe with bulb in top and a ground alligator clip. follow your positive from battery up through ignition.see where power stops.red and brown should be hot all the time and red white should be keyed on hot.

Here is a simple wiring diagram if you are using points ignition. If you want to have turn signals, power comes from the brown wire, the same wire that feeds the horn, brake lights.
