Here's a cute little micrometer for only $10.95 from:

www.littlemachineshop.com

Fits in the smallest place. Great for measuring things like....well...things!

One of those tools that you just leave lying on your work bench so people think you really know what you're doing.... Very Happy

Just thought I would introduce you to the Little Machine Shop if you hadn't heard of it before.

Pete, that looks like a handy tool to have when you're out shopping for a specific size bolt, etc.

Here's a picture of one of my favourite tools. Its a Starrett Co. 1 inch micrometer. I see that the littlemachineshop sells the same tool for about $126.00.

Through the years I have used this tool for a million little jobs. It means a lot to me, because my dad used it in his work as a machinist. I know that its at least 50 years old and may be even older than that. He machined parts for battle tanks during WW2.

Heck, I've got two of those things as well as the 1-2", 2-3" and 3-4" sizes. Believe it or not, I actually use them for measuring bores, runout, valve stems, etc. A cheapo set of snap guages goes a long way in this hobby too.

America(ns) actually invaded Canada twice, during the revolutionary war in 1775, and in the war of 1812, and got our asses kicked both times, lesson learned, don't mess with the Canunks, a couple of other border skirmishs, The Pig War (1839) and a Union Army Irish brigade (the Fenian Brotherhood) in 1866

RG that outfit is still in business. You should email them and find out how old and how much your dad's tool cost way back when.

RG -- your answer was obviously wrong. It runs counter to the fact that ignorance can be fixed but stupid is forever, which explains why 650skull never changes.

A few well used tools from the box I found today to add to the thread. Gotta love those red pliers. Yes, we use them, they have a very special purpose around the shop.

Sorry about the dirty hand, hadn't hit the Go-Jo yet.
