puting 81 ignition onto 75 engine?

i was wondering if it was possible to swap the electronic ignition onto an older engine.
heres the situation, the current engine in my 81 special started knocking and burning oil. my uncle gave me an engine that he had rebuilt and ran for about 100 miles that was sitting in his basement. i'd like to keep this swap as simple as possible and not have to mess with any wiring on the bike. i'm moving pretty soon so i need to get this done asap. i would do the pamco kit, but i don't have time to wait for shipping or the money.

I have a 75 or so engine that I put in my electronic 80 once.......bolted right up....ignition and all..............

You will simply have to install the stator and rotor from the '81 engine into the older engine.

Remove the advance rod and advance mechanism from the older engine and put them aside for the day when the ignition system fails and you convert over to a PAMCO.

i just wanted to make sure before i tore everything apart. i'll probably swap to it eventually, i just don't really have time right now.
