I have my 1978 XS650SE up fpor sale. I don't know where here to put it so I stuck it here. I would like to get around 1500 for it. It is basically original. All original parts are included if not on the bike (bars, air bi=oxes, etc.). Currently having minor electrical problem which I am working on. Before that happened, she ran great. If there is any interest, please PM me. I hate to sell it but really must.

Dave

Pictures and more accurate description of the electrical problem(s) would be nice... also, 1500 for a non-running XS is a bit steep if you ask me.

It will be running before the week is out. The electric problem is: I was riding home and everything just died, like the battery went dead, but the battery has full charge and the charging system is working. I think either a fuse gone funky, a wire problem between battery, switch and whatever, a kill switch bad, or a bad main switch. In any event, it will be running again by the end of the week.

Okay....for all the tips, and help, thanks! My XS is now running again and sounding as good as ever. Don't ask me what I did to fix it though. Nothing I did seemed to work, until, in frustration I took my screwdriver handle and knocked a few times on the starter relay and the voltage regulator (both mechanical). Turned the key and whammo! Instruments lit up! flipped the enrichener lever and kicked her through...ONCE! She fired up! Turned it off and tried again...one kick and she fired right up! Left her running while I buttoned up the headlight and replaced the sidecovers and latched the seat....not a miss or skip. After closing everything back up I switched it off and tried it one more time. First kick...fired right up! I guess it was maybe a relay stuck or something, but anyway she is running good again.
