I have a hotter coil and have my gap at .038

The hotter coil does allow you to set the gap wider for better combustion, but not all plugs are designed to accomodate a wider gap. You may have to switch to a different plug, like some of the 5/8 " plugs that have a wider gap right out of the box.

and i will say that this coil is a fantastic mod. So much nicer at idle and cruising (used to pop sometimes), and my plugs are cleaner. Worth the money forsure. Very Happy

oldskoolcool, what year XS is yours? Is it stock elect ignition or points or a modified ignition?

single points setup on a 78. since the coil was a 3.3 ohm and thats hard on the points, i used a Ballast Resistor from a 70's dodge truck inline with the primary so bring the resistance up to 4.8 ohms.
