Putting together a rigid, installing a cateye aftermarket tail light, my wiring from the '77 xs harness has 3 wires going to the original tail light, a blue , a yellow and a black, the cateye has only 2 wires , a red and a black, how to hook this up?

someone suggested to hook the new red and black from the cateye to the harness blue and yellow , and leave the black from the harness unplugged as the mount will be ground, can that be right?

thanks in advance!

since most japanese bikes run rubber mounted taillights the third black wire is a ground just run it to one of your taillight mount bolts extra insurance from frame ground

ah, thanks for the idea jayel , so i can assume the black coming out of the cateye is not a ground? but rather a lead?
