Hi guys,

I noticed that the right coil on my bike gets very warm when the key is left on for a minute or two. the left coil remains stone-cold. is this normal?

I discovered it while poking around under the tank, checking voltage to the coils as per this article: 650rider.com/index.php...ic&p=49306

Only one coil is on at a time. They can also be both off, but they can't be both on at the same time. They are turned on and off by their respective set of points, so it's just a matter of luck as to which one is on when the engine is not running.

Leaving them on for a long time can burn them out, so if you are trouble shooting with the key on, then turn off the kill switch.
