I'm leaking a little oil around the cylinder base gasket on my engine. At least thats where it looks like it is coming from. Does anyone have the head bolt touqueing sequence and specs? Some of the bolts(like under the spark plugs) don't look like they could stand the 30# I read about in here, and which one do I torque first and last? Please help!!! Have manual on order, but I want to ride. Supposed to be 80 degrees here the next few days.

The sequence is shown on the diagram. Common practice is to use 30 ft-lbs for the large 10 mm studs, not 25 as shown.
Numbers 9,10,12,13,14 and 15 use 14 ft-lbs
Number 11 use 7 ft-lbs
A "wobble" extension is needed to do the bolts under the plugs and the small 6 mm bolt at the back centre.

Thanks a bunch R.G. That should fix me up on that. While rebuilding my carbs. I drilled out the EPA ports(the lead over the adjustment screws) any idea where I need to start (how far out as far as seating the screw how many turns) to make the bike run as it should? Sorry to be a thorn in your side, but I'm new at this. What is this adjustment called? Thanks for your help and advice!!!!!!!!!!!!

You don't give the year of your bike, but sounds like you have an 80 to 83 with the 34 mm Tintops. Here is a chart made up by 5twins.
The screw is called the air/fuel mixture screw or pilot screw.

You are correct as usuall. It is an 81 Special 2. Completely stock and I think the world of the thing. First bought it on a whim and it turned out to be such a good looking bike and good running bike I had to keep it as it was. I helped a friend of mine move and it was setting in his garage and hadn't been ridden in 14 years, paint good, chrome good and he was moving it around complainig about it. What ya take for it. 150.00 dollards I bought it and took her home. Cleaned the carbs. abd have been hooked every since. She is a surivor, Orig. paint and all. She hauls me a lot of miles. and I think she needs TLC to really make her like she should be. I will never change her or chop her I like her just like she is. It just makes me happy to have it run like it should. We put around at around 40 to 55 MPH and are both happy. It's a good bike. Don't wan't to change it just have it healthy and ride it. Thanks for all your help and quick responses. It really helps to have someone help that knows what is going on with them. I feel that you like these bikes and do. Thanks

tuffbuilt-you like your bike like I like my bike. Here is a link to a manual. I think it has the torquing sequences in it.
