Just went out tonight and bought the wifey a helmet and took her for a 25 mile jaunt for the first time... and she LOVED it! WooHoo! I've been trying to get her to ride with me since I started... FINALLY! she asked ME!? to take her for a ride tonight... I took her straight to our local cycle place and bought her a helmet, and off we went!
Sorry... Just really excited that she might be gettin' into it...

Chris,
The real test will be when she looks up at you and quietly mentions that she would really like to have her own bike.....that's what separates the men from the divorced men.......
Congratulations, by the way. Neither of my Ex's rode, and they were supposed to be macho.....

Congrats. It's hard to explain the feeling to a non-rider. What would you do if she wants her own?

When she got on, I believe her exact words were "Oh! It vibrates!"
I hope she wants her own some day. I already offered to teach her to ride it... she's still nervous though... I'll take baby steps with her untill she cracks

Yeah my dad who has a Suzuki S40 single 650, calls my XS a "ladies bike" because it vibrates so much more than his single.

See if you can find he a nice XS400 to get started with. Or even a 500. Someday I'd like to find a nice little KZ400 or 440 Kawasaki parallel twin.

penn71911, Thats great some the best "get away time for ourselves" you can have. Each ridng their own is fun. But I/we like the intimacy of 2-up. She's good about using arm signals to let the cagers know our intentions, helping me watch for hazards/idiots, and navigator(map reader) on poker runs/tours where we don't know the roads.

Be nice, Guys,
You think an XS vibrates? Ha! I have four BSA singles. Ya think it's because I enjoy British electrics? Well...?
Good for your wife, penn!

My wife got it in her head we needed a bike several years ago and we went shopping around. A few days later I got a call she had bought a new Suzuki Marauder and I had to go pick it up because she didn't have a license to ride. Well she got her license and doesn't like riding on back so much anymore. Now the Suzuki is her bike and the 650 is mine.
Funny thing. After I got the 650 rebuilt it took a bit to get her to ride it. When she did I was on the Suzuki riding with her. When we stopped at the first stop light I looked at her and she was all smiles and giggling....? Hmmmm The 650 definitely vibrates more then the Suzuki.
