I made a boo boo. I installed a brake pad backwards so that the side that was supposed to be hitting the rotor was facing the caliper piston. I didnt realize this until after I got back from a long ride and I noticed a grinding noise. It ate away at the brake pad backing quite a bit and left metal deposits on the rotor. I was wondering what is the best way to remove the deposits or is my rotor screwed? I thought about grinding the spots down but I am worried about messing up the rotor even worse. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Cory.

Well, the rotor can't be turned, it's too hard and too thin. Doing it yourself will just mess it up more. Time to get on Ebay and get another rotor, and replace the pads, again...

Well I dont know if its totally fixed or not but I was able to take angle grinder with 120 grit on it and knock down the debris. Turn the pad around and it seems like its working the charm.
Now I just filled up the tank and spilled gas all over it. SON OF A B**** I am so pissed. But, you live you learn.

I used the 'brown' cookie's(for cleaning gasket's, 3M scotch brite pad's) on my high speed air grinder. Just remove the caliper & spin the wheel while using the 3M pad's. Nice swirl finish when your done. No vibration's either.
