Yeah, Dad said that he wanted to start painting bikes and cars. Something he always wanted to do, so I told he could practice on my XS! Very Happy

For Father's Day we're headed to the AACA museum in Hershey, PA, which now has the Fast from the Past exhibit. All cycles from early 1900s into the 70s. Didn't see an XS on the list, but it should be fun.

ore info on that here:

I wasn't trying to use the forum here for promotion, but if somebody was interested in getting their tank painted, I could put you in touch with him outside the site.

Oh, another interesting thing we discovered: There are little tabs that hold rear of the gas cap with a pin and very tiny clips. These tabs are not welded to the body of the tank. And they're very... fragile. Rolling Eyes We broke one trying to get the cap off and had to use some high-end metal epoxy to get it back on. Just thought I'd share... maybe save somebody some headache.

Doh! Those tabs are brittle. I managed to break the hinge at front of the gas tank while trying to remove a stubborn hinge pin. I used a piece of brass tubing from the hobby store as a sleeve for the hinge pin to go through and built up a hinge out of JB weld around the sleeve.

Ok, my father finished painting the tank, headlight bucket, side covers and the upper fork covers that hold the headlight. Only have a photo of the tank without the badges or gas cap. Will post photos of everything as soon as I get my hands on the stuff.
I think it looks pretty close to the original. Thanks for all the photos guys. It helped him greatly in getting this done.

Your tank looks great! Your father did a really great job!!!

How do you like the sound of those mufflers? Are they Emgo Dunstalls?
