hey im casey- i bought my 650 from a coworker in april of 2008 and ive done a few things to it so far. new tires- handlebars- rebuilt/rejetted carbs- 2-1 xhaust tonight i just removed the headlight bucket ears so the entire forks can be seen (need to figure out how to mount a headlight now!) also lowered the front end about an inch by losening the triple clamps.
photo was taken shortly after i got it- since then my friend laid it down in the grass broke some turn signals bent the shifter snapped brake lever- its a work in progress

welcome casey, you'll soon learn, loan your money, loan your car, never loan your motorcycle unless you want to end up fixing it

Welcome aboard Casey, lots of good info and folks here. 2 into 1 eh? If you decide to get rid of your stock pipe setup let me know(hint, hint). Love the bends on the early headers.

Boyer is fine I suppose but maybe you ought look at the Pamco Pete ignition. The price is quite a bit less.
He is a member here too.

I just bought the whole pamco ignition from mikesxs.com. Including coil and new wires and caps. You have to use the factory advance to but it is easily replaced. Look through these posts. Talk to Pete.

A BIG WELCOME TO THE SCHMUCK---OPP'S ,I mean schmuckingham.Just kidding with you on the lingo.Personaly, I like the simplicity of the Pamco ignition system, & Pete warrent's them for a year. Also, like Pump's said(wrote),Mike'sxs.com has the system for under $100.00,& also has the advance unit separate if need be.Glad to have you aboard, & the XS 650 advice here is top notch, but the political view's are fu***** out there, like Pluto man.OH, mikes has different package offer's.Like just the Pamco unit ,with coil & wire's ,or the whole setup for us people who have newer bike's with the TCI igniton already.Enjoy ridin' a classic!!!!!!!
