Well, I have the 35mm forks on my 76 XS650. I want to use the ignition switch from a 78-84 XS since it mounts to the little tabs on the top tree. It'll give me a cleaner look then making a bracket for the 76 switch. The 76 has 4 terminals and the 78-84 has 3. That's my issue and can't tell from the wiring diagram how to go about hooking it up. Thanks.

Here are links to the diagrams for each year.

just tie the red/white and the blue together and run them to the blue/yellow on the key switch

The three wire switch is red to battery, brown to the load and blue or blue/yellow to the taillight on '80 to '83's.

To wire the three wire switch into the '76:

1. Switch Red to red from the main fuse.
2. Switch Brown to brown wire.
3. Switch Blue or blue/yellow to red/yellow and blue wires.

Gotcha! Thanks guys!. Oh, and I just received your Pamco system from Mikes last week. Looks awesome. Can't wait to install it.

Oh, and since we are on the subject.

Does anybody have a switch with 2 keys in good condition from a 78-84 XS650 lying around they don't need?

Well, Mikes has new ones for only $30. If you buy a couple of other items, you get free shipping. If someone here has one for you for FREE you still have to pay shipping, at least $6, so the new switch from mikes is effectively only $24! (and it comes with 2 keys!)
