Bike looks good! Im going to change the rear sprocket on mine to try to lower the rpms. Going to try a 30 or a 31 tooth rear. It gets pretty buzzy at 60+. Im also going to rip into the motor and replace the cam chain and sliders along with a few other parts I cant re use in the process.

pull the motor, remove right side and clutch to get access to the case bolt behind the clutch turn it upside down remove other bottom case bolts to split cases, you also have to remove the shifter shaft best to read the service manual, apply a thin coating of Yamabond to the cases mating surfaces and reassemble

Well, jayel, couldn't he just try and retorque the bolts that you can get to without removing the engine?

ok guys some new stuff came in today ............my pamco ignition kit!!!!!!
and it looks great check it out.
now for the bad news my rotor is still out for the rebuild and im not going to put the pamco in till the bike is running with the new rotor.......i dont want if any thing was to happen to have to trouble shoot so many things all at ones. |
I remember pamcopete saying the 17-6803 coil was not suitable with the pamco. Is that the one you have in the photo?

650skull,
The 17-6803 will work, but you have to trim the plastic off of the ends and mount it with the ground clamps to dissipate the heat.
ikes is currently shipping the 17-6822 coil, which runs cooler and does not have the plastic on the ends of the coil.

Pamcopete, I wounder d what the difference was. I thought the 17-6822 had a little more kick to it

650shull
Here is a link to a thread where I discuss the differences. The 17-6803 is no longer supplied with the kit. It's either the 17-6822 or the "Green Monster" 17-6810

Whats the wheel base on your bike? Random, I know. I'm getting ready to start a project and I like the overall length.
