iam trying to take the headers and exhaust apart but they seem to be welded , took the whole thing off the bike and tried heating it and hammering it out but they wont separate please help before i will cut them

they must be rusted together. that heat shouldve worked? is there hany way u can soak that area in some penetrating oil. like PB blaster. hard to say with out looking at it.

looks like its pushed in , wanted to heat it but don't have more propane, will get some tomorrow

If theyre rusted/fused that bad mate you might as well scrap 'em & buy a decent set of unrestricted aftermarket jobbies.. The standard Yam pipes/cans strangle the poor old motor !

I read someware, may have been this sit, I'll look for it tomorrow, that the 80's had silencer and header fused togeather not made to come appart.

To the best of my knowledge,Standards had removeable mufflers,whereas the Specials had an integrated header/muffler assembly. Mark257;if the bike in question is the one pictured in your avatar,and it still has the exhaust pictured,they are one piece exhaust assemblies.

i want to thank you all for your help , it was welded somehow together , i took care of it already by cutting it and then grinding the rough edges off i will post pictures as soon i can
