Hey guys and gals,

I need a tip on replacing the cam chain. I hate buying a tool and knowing I will only use it once or twice in my life, so how does one connect the cam chain link without that tool mike sells. I've read on that engine rebuild site that he used some vice grips but he doesn't show an example of how he did it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

you could use a heavy piece of steel to hold on one side while you stake the pins on the other side with a chisel. thats what i did before i aquired the yamaha tool for the job which esentially does the exact same thing, and without ever having a failure. also be carefull to hit it on center! the pins will chip if you don't.
