Hey Cali - I'm right behind you an a "bratstyle" rebuild. If you would - how did you lower the front? I'm thinking cut the tubes 2"...I'm going with Rebel shocks in the rear. Also, did you cut the seat pan and battery cowl? looks great! What tank did you go with? Rear fender? I'll post pic of mine in a few days. Please keep us updated...

i cut the springs inside the front tubes 2" shorter. i cut the seat pan and had a local guy stitch me up the seat. I also made the side covers that hide the battery/electrical. the tank is an old peanut tank. hap jones i believe is what it is called. post up some of yours!

I did some frame mods and shorter shocks to lower mine. You can see some pictures of the frame mods by clicking on my link below.

Here's mine. I dropped the seat rails 3 inches but relocated the upper shock mounts above the rails. Then I made some new mounts for the lower mounts and welded them to the stock swingarm. The shocks now mount 3 inches further back than stock. These are the stock shocks. I didn't measure but I figure it lowered it a good 2-3 inches.

Cali Cruiser, what exactly did you do to make your pipes parallel to the ground? are those to stock pipes that go directly into the head? ive been trying to figure out the best way to make mine parallel to the ground.

Cali cruiser, I'd like to see the kickstand. What did you do to make it work on the lowered bike?

those are stock headers going into triumph mufflers. I cut the headers off at a point where they were parallel to the ground. I WILL have to bend the brake pedal out a little cause right now when you push on the pedal it runs into the muffler. I will make 2 bends to allow it to miss the pedal.

cali cruiser, what size shocks are you running in the back and where did you get them. I really like that stance you got, I am considering doing something similar to mine.

heres what i did to mine.
first heated and bent it. but the bracket that holds the spring hit the ground before the foot did and the toe catch was way outa place.
cut off original foot and fine tuned the bottom.
got a short spring at ace hardware. $1.50
drilled and tapped a hole about 1/2'' further down than spring at rest position. that way there is always some tension on it.
put toe catch back on just higher up the stand.
welded bolt in place.
welded big ole washer for new foot. its off center from stand cause it hit tth frame rails.
got rebel shocks and flipped the top tree.....done.

Not much of a bobber here, more of a cruiser (?), but did lower it with 11" shocks and the seat lowered by removing the pan and trimming the stock foam sides.

Hey Justin, your bike looks great.

What tank is that and where did you find it? I am in the process of building a bratstyle bike right now too.

PS, do you have anymore pics I could look at. Thanks

Steve
